Website built in ASP.net. Form validation for contest written in Javascript. Website is also responsive and we are currently working on a mobile version. Website was done as a Developer at the Star Group and it belongs to Teva Respiratory.

Thesis Catalog and Website

For this project I was in charge of the design and assembly of the 2012 Undergraduate Fine Arts Senior Thesis catalog. I worked closely with our advisers to get approval of my concept. Everyone really liked the results! The catalog is 9″x13″ which is pretty big, and it looks awesome with the bright neon cover.

“Espagueti a la diabla”

My work deals with a search for cultural identity and perpetuation of heritage in the midst of violence and change. It explores the juxtaposition of cultural continuity and breakdown; actions that differ in intention and emotion but that exist simultaneously. While my pieces aim to preserve memories of an older generation, they also deal with the dilution of tradition brought on by external disruptions. In the end, I want to convey feelings of nostalgia and reverence for cultural tradition, in spite of ongoing issues of violence and disorder.

Recipes were handwritten by my two grandmothers. Violent images come from the Mexican newspaper Extra! Any other imagery is from personal family albums.

So here is the preview of the book I made for my Thesis Preview Show. It was the fourth project of the thesis seminar. It was produced in only about two weeks. I first made posters and then postcards and finally it was made into a book. Everyone really seemed to like it, so next semester I think my full thesis project (next semester we just have one project) will be a humorous illustration/design book about immigration.

The preview looks blurry but that is just because the images are really high resolution and they look different in the Blurb preview. I swear it prints nicely! The hardcover one looks really sleek and I am really happy with the outcome. Feel free to purchase one

“Inner Demons” Table

Here are some pictures of the table I made. It is 3 feet high and was made with wood, leather, spikes, and broken mirrors. It represents the inner demons or bad times that a person has experienced. I chose to use a table to represent this concept, because I believe we might go through hard times where our inner demons come out, but we can be strong and overcome this, thus that bad period of one’s life ends. Thus, the table has a top which makes it “finite” and represents the ending of something. Also the fact that it is a table means that it is stable, showing that by overcoming bad experiences we are able to grow and be stronger, which “supports” who we are today.
